  • Recently, Pakistani authorities announced that the “Rahdari” system, which for years allowed Iranian travelers to cross the border with a simple travel document, will be officially terminated from March 15, 2026. From that date, crossing the border will require a valid passport and official visa.

For backpackers and travelers seeking budget or adventure trips, this change means careful planning is now essential. If you plan to travel overland via Tftan or Gwadar, it is recommended to start the visa application process immediately.
